Elmer Veith has spent more than 25 years working in the entertainment industry, focusing on rigging and structure-related projects. Having worked for several industry-leading companies, he is currently the head of sales and training for Reliable Design Services in Dallas, Texas.
Past projects have included the development of the R3 Outdoor Stage Roof system, Cincinnati Symphony Summer Concert Series stage roof system, Toyota Electrify Expo exhibits, and numerous truss and tower designs.
Elmer has been an active member of the ESTA Technical Standards Program - Rigging Working Group since 2007 and is currently the task group leader for three Rigging standards update efforts, including ANSI E1.2 – Design, Manufacture, and Use of Aluminum Trusses and Towers.
Owner Entertainment Rigging Services, LLC
Ethan Gilson is the owner of Entertainment Rigging Services, LLC and has more than 25 years of experience in the entertainment rigging and lighting industry. He works nationwide providing rigging inspections, training, design, and installation for permanent and temporary systems in theaters, arenas, convention centers, hotel ballrooms, and outdoor venues.
Gilson earned a BFA in Design Technology – Lighting from Emerson College in 1998 and began his career as an equipment specialist and lighting designer at Advanced Lighting and Production Services, Inc. (ALPS). He has focused on entertainment rigging for most of his career and has been inspecting theaters and arenas across the U.S. since 2006.
In 2005, Gilson received one of the first ETCP certifications in Arena and Theatre Rigging. In 2012 he became an ETCP Recognized Trainer, and has served as an ETCP Rigging Certification Subject Matter Expert since 2014. He is active in industry safety and standards work through ESTA and the Event Safety Alliance and previously hosted the podcast Shackles, Burlap, & Lies. He serves as chair to several ESTA Technical Standards Program task groups, whose goal is to establish ANSI standards for safety in the industry in the areas of fall arrest and suspended rigging. In 2020, he was a recipient of the ESTA TSP “Above and Beyond Award” which celebrates those volunteers that have made significant contributions or effort that advances the Technical Standards Program.

Mr. Reder’s personal design experience is in a wide variety of entertainment structures, such as performance and pavilion roof structures – both temporary and permanent, aluminum truss grids, temporary and permanent seating risers, sound delay and video wall support structures. Mr. Reder also has extensive experience in the design and analysis of complex aluminum structures.
In addition to his extensive experience with entertainment structures, Mr. Reder is an expert in the design of conventional building structures. He has personal design experience with structural steel, prestressed and post-tensioned concrete, masonry and wood framing.

Classes will go from 8am-5pm with an 60 minute break for lunch.
Drinks: We will provide water, coffee, and other drinks.
Food: To keep costs down, we don’t provide lunch. However, there are many restaurants and food choices around a mile away, and grocery stores 5 miles away, with a variety of foods for different diets. We also have a breakroom where you can store and heat up food.

Yes. We will have reduced-rate rooms for attendees. We will send and email to all attendees in a couple weeks with details on hotel blocks and local area information.
Cancellation Policy:
Payment is transferable. A class attendee can request in writing, their payment and seat be applied to another attendee within the same company / organization for the same class.
If an attendee registered for training through their employer has resigned or is terminated by their employer, after registering and before the class date, the employer may transfer the payment and seat to another attendee for the same class.
Class attendees should not make travel arrangements prior to receiving confirmation of payment and registration.
If the minimum class size is not met, the class is subject to cancellation. At which time, employers / attendees must request in writing a request for a full refund.
United Staging & Rigging, along with hosted instructors will make all reasonable attempts to keep class dates as scheduled. However, classes are subject to cancellation for unforeseen circumstances.
Should an attendee cancel within 5 business days of the start of the class, including the day of class they are registered for, no refund will be provided.
A 75% refund may be issued, with request submitted in writing, if notification is received prior to the 5 business day stipulation as noted above.
Class attendees are expected to conduct themselves appropriately and safely in and around the class environment. If a United Staging & Rigging team member determines that an attendee is behaving inappropriately, such as to disturb the training session, as to distract the other attendees and/or instructors, or jeopardizes the safety of others at the class, the offending attendee will be asked to leave, with no right to receive a certificate, certification, or refund.
Attendees must arrive at each training session on time.
Qualifying Exceptions to Guidelines Noted Above:
1) Death of an attendee or immediate family member.
2) Travel delays / cancellations outside of the attendee’s reasonable control, including those from flight cancellations and/or severe weather.
3) If an attendee is too ill to attend AND is contagious as to affect the health of others at the class, a 50% refund may be requested in writing within in 5 business days of the class which was missed.
