Competent Person Fall Protection Training is designed for anyone who works at, or supervises those working at, heights.
Competent Person status must be designated by the employer. The employer is responsible for determining that the individual possesses the appropriate knowledge, training, experience, and authority necessary to perform the assigned Competent Person responsibilities.
This course is intended to provide participants with the knowledge necessary to support their responsibilities as an employer-designated Competent Person for fall protection.
This two-day program provides participants with an understanding of:
Participants will review the proper use, application, limitations, compatibility, inspection, care, and maintenance of commonly used fall protection equipment.
The course also addresses how anchorage location, equipment selection, free-fall distance, deceleration distance, swing fall, and available clearance affect the performance of a fall protection system.
The program is primarily classroom-based and includes equipment demonstrations and limited hands-on exercises involving inspection of fall protection equipment and the proper fitting and donning of a full-body harness.

Christopher Parietti is an Instructor at First Choice Safety Solutions based in Mystic, Connecticut.
Founded in 2014, First Choice Safety Solutions provides safety, rescue, access, training & PPE/gear. They specialize in occupational health and safety consulting, technical rescue services, specialized training, and operational support to industrial, utility, construction, and public-sector clients.
Their experienced instructors bring real-world expertise to every session, translating complex OSHA standards into practical, actionable knowledge that workers can immediately apply in the field.
We use them to train our own employees, and now we are hosting them in Salem to train you too.

Students will receive an email with all class info before the first day of class.
This course is two days: December 9th and 10th, 2026.
Classes will go from approx 8am- 5pm with an 60 minute break for lunch.
Drinks: We will provide soda, water, and coffee.
Food: We allow use of our breakroom to store and heat up food. There are also many food options and a grocery within a few miles of the classroom.
We have indoor and outdoor seating areas to eat.
Unfortunately no. Seats are limited, so to be fair, we only hold seats after payment is made in full. We highly recommend booking your seat(s) as soon as possible.

People who already have an ETCP certification can submit 0.5 credits per hour as “renewal credits”.
This course does not earn credits for those working towards their first ETCP certification.
